For the sense of smell, I captured a flower really in focus, but I blurred it a little bit in editing so that a person with a lessened sense of smell doesn't quite make out what he/she is trying to smell.
For the sense of sound, I chose to capture a glass shattering as this is the sort of effect someone may suffer with through the loss of hearing. With deafness, it sometimes gives one the impression of losing all connection with the world, hence the glass shattering.
For taste, I went into my local supermarket in Letchworth to capture a row of apples. The reason I chose this is because I wanted to draw out what taste is in my point of view. As the photos gets more out of focus, the sense of taste deteriorates.
For the sense of touch, I blacked out my hand so I could create the feeling of losing that sense of touch.
Finally, I captured the sense of sight in an out of focus way so I could capture the perspective of a partially blind person. This was captured in a car park on top of Westgate Shopping Centre in Stevenage.
